| COST: | The cost for dinner and 4 hrs. of CPE is included in your annual membership dues. The cost for non-members is $75 for dinner and CPE’s. We will be eating Pork Tenderloin. The vegetarian alternative is veg. lasagna. Please mark your preference when you register. If you RSVP for dinner and do not attend, there will be a $25 no show charge for members and $75 for non-members as the chapter must pay for missed meals. Dr. Dale A. Matthews will discuss a topic of great relevance as we head into tax season, - “Don’t Mess With Stress: Staying Healthy During the Busy Season.”
Dr. Matthews practices and teaches general internal medicine with an emphasis on individualized, patient-centered, and spiritually-sensitive treatment. His office is located at 1140 19th St. NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036 (phone: 202-728-9630). Dr. Matthews was graduated cum laude from Princeton University. He earned his medical degree from Duke University and completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut. He was awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholarship at Yale where he completed a fellowship in clinical epidemiology and conducted research on patients’ perceptions of physicians. Dr. Matthews was awarded the George Morris Piersol Teaching and Research Scholarship of the American College of Physicians and a Humility Theology Award from the John Templeton Foundation. He is the author of “The Faith Factor: Proof of the Healing Power of Prayer”, six other books, five teaching videotapes on the doctor-patient relationship and the spiritual dimension of medicine, and over 60 scientific articles. He has appeared on numerous national television programs, including the Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, and Good Morning America. He is married to Demetra Matthews (a CPA) and they have two adult children. | ||||||||||

FORUM A - 3:00 - 6:40 p.m. (4 CPE) TRI-STATE TAX UPDATE
What was extended and what wasn’t? Are you really up-to-date on all the Federal, DC, Maryland and Virginia tax law changes for 2010 or has the flood of new tax laws left your head spinning? Join us for the Annual NCVSCPA Tri-State and IRS update and start tax season on the right foot.
Representatives from IRS (Ley Mills), DC (Vincent Slater), Maryland (Chris Kolb), Virginia (Monique Valentine) will update us on the latest information regarding tax changes and the coming filing season. Our own Sean O’Connell will provide helpful tax tips including guidance regarding IRS requirements. 2010 is another year with much to learn to be properly prepared for filing season. Beginning at 3:00PM, you can earn 4 hours of CPE while getting the current word from the experts. This event always “sells out” so be sure to register early!!! We had some great ideas introduced at the December meeting and will continue to build on that. Please come to the meeting with more great ideas.
