TRI-STATE UPDATE

2009 was a very busy year for tax legislation and much of the news has been good for taxpayers. Join us for the annual Tri-State & IRS tax update. Representatives from IRS (Ley Mills), DC (Paulette Gooden), Maryland (Chris Kolb), and Virginia (Art Auerbach) will update us on the latest information regarding tax changes and the coming filing season. Have new state rules slipped under your radar? Now is the time to find out. As with last year, this will again be a year where there will be much to learn to be properly prepared for the filing season.

Beginning at 3 PM you can earn four hours of CPE while getting the current word from the experts. There will be time for questions and answers.

Paulette Gooden is a Program Analyst in the Forms and Systems Division, Returns Processing Administration within the DC Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR). Her chief responsibility is to develop new and update existing District of Columbia Income and Business Tax forms (both Official and Substitute versions). For the last eight years, she has represented the DC OTR at various NATCP meetings, IRS seminars and Practitioner’s Institutes, presenting information on form changes and updates.

Christopher J. Kolb is the Manager, Leadership Development & Forms/Testing Section, Comptroller of Maryland, Revenue Administration Division.

Herbert D. Mills III is Internal Revenue Service Stakeholder Liaison.

Art Auerbach, CPA, having retired from Goodman & Company is back working for them as a consultant. He is on the AICPA Individual Tax Resource Panel, the due date task force, the health care task force and the individual mod-efile task force. He also services on the Commonwealth Commissioners Advisory Group as well as the Advisory Board to the Office of Tax and Revenue in D.C.
