President's Letter
What a great start to 2010! Thanks to our tax committee and the quality of our speakers, we had over 250 members attend our Tri-State and IRS tax update forum. Our next meeting will be February 16th, a breakfast at Maggiano's sponsored by ProShred Security, document destruction at your door! The topic will be "Introduction to the GSA Schedule -including advantages and pitfalls."
As I mentioned at dinner, the Northern Chapter will be teaming with the VSCPA to hold Financial Fitness Day, April 24, 2010. We have been assigned two locations for our booths, Manassas Mall and the Wal-Mart at Fair Lakes Center. We are looking for up to 8 volunteers. Contact Demetra Mathews of our Board if you are interested in helping. All volunteers receive a free t-shirt! This event has received state and national media attention. Let's show the public our chapter's volunteerism and spirit of public service.
With tax season knocking on the door, I want to wish all our members a successful, errorless and stress free season. Would new licensing requirements on tax preparers increase our business? Interesting question¡.perhaps one day we will see.
